Lattingtown teen killed in car crash

Today, January 1oth, at 7:25 in the morning, a teenager by the name of Isabella Grasso was killed in a car crash. She was hit by another teenager, whose name is unidentified. According to the Nassau County police, Grasso was pronounced dead less than two hours after the accident at the Nassau University Medical Center. The other teenager was taken to a different hospital and has suffered injuries to his chest and arms.

The accident happened when Grasso crossed over a double-yellow line and hit the other teenager's car. She was driving a 2003 Mercedes-Benz convertible southwest on Old Tappan Road and her car crossed the line. She struck a 1998 Ford Explorer driven by a 17-year-old boy from Locust Valley.

Officials said she was on her way to Sacred Heart Academy in Hempstead, where she was a senior. A statement on the school's website urged the Sacred Heart community to "keep her parents and family in your prayers."

"Detectives report no apparent criminality with the accident at this time," police said in a news release. "Both vehicles were impounded from the accident scene for brake and safety inspections."
